I am thrilled to announce that I am now serving as the State Senator for the 10th District.


I am deeply grateful for your support and the opportunity to represent you. As the proud youngest son of Jim and Norma Deneen, I bring a wealth of experience to this role. Throughout my career, I have served as a dedicated educator, coach, and school administrator. I am also a small business owner, community organizer, grant writer, philanthropist, and have been twice elected as an Elizabethtown City Councilman.


Together, we have accomplished incredible things for our community. By working collaboratively with individuals, organizations, businesses, civic groups, veterans associations, government agencies, educational institutions, nonprofits, and foundations, we have raised over half a million dollars to improve the quality of life for our residents. I am committed to nurturing and expanding these relationships and partnerships as your State Senator.


In these challenging times, active leadership is more crucial than ever. I firmly believe that by bringing people together for the greater good, we can achieve remarkable outcomes. My focus is on limited government, fostering positive partnerships, upholding the Bill of Rights, and safeguarding our constitution. Through steady, comprehensive, community-minded improvements, we can create good-paying jobs and ensure safer neighborhoods for all. It would be my utmost honor to have your support and vote as I work tirelessly to fulfill the responsibilities of your State Senator.

Legacy of Leadership

Two Centuries of Service

  • American Patriot, Revolutionary War Veteran, and Champion of Freedom

    Risdon Moore's resolute dedication to liberty and equality shaped the course of history. As a devoted Methodist and steadfast Republican, he left an indelible mark on American politics.


    Having served in the Georgia Legislature in multiple terms from 1795 to 1809, Moore's strong opposition to slavery compelled him to make a bold move. In 1813, he relocated his family to Illinois, driven by a noble mission to help shape the state as a beacon of freedom. His unwavering commitment earned him two elections to the County Court, where he tirelessly fought for justice and equality.


    His leadership was recognized when he served as Speaker of the House in the Illinois Territorial Legislature in 1814 and 1815. A visionary pioneer, Moore became the first to sign the anti-convention/anti-slavery bill, guiding Illinois as a Free State long before President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, making history over three decades earlier.


    In 1875, Moore's remarkable abilities and steadfast determination led to his appointment to the U.S. Treasury Department. His legacy as an American Patriot and his tireless pursuit of freedom continue to inspire generations to this day.





  • Scholar, Veteran, and Diplomat

    Samuel H. Deneen was a distinguished figure in academia, with a notable contribution to McKendree University as both a professor and a valued member of the Board of Trustees. His dedication to education has left a lasting impact on the institution.


    Deneen's illustrious background includes serving as a Civil War Veteran in the esteemed 117th McKendree Regiment. His courageous service during this tumultuous time in history showcases his unwavering commitment to his country.


    In recognition of his talents and diplomatic prowess, President Harrison appointed Deneen as the U.S. Consulate to Belleville, Ontario Canada. In this role, he represented the United States with honor and distinction, fostering strong relations between the two nations.

  • Advocate, Governor, and Statesman

    an educator, state attorney, and politician. With unwavering determination, he fearlessly championed an anti-crime platform, confronting the corruption and infamous mobs of Chicago. His relentless pursuit of justice made him a target of gangs associated with the notorious Al Capone, who even attempted to bomb his residence in South Chicago.


    From 1892 to 1894, Deneen served in the State House of Representatives, skillfully representing the interests of the people he dedicated himself to serving. His unwavering commitment to public service culminated in a historic achievement—being elected as the first two-time Republican Governor of Illinois, serving from 1905 to 1913. During his tenure, he enacted significant reforms that shaped the course of the state. Notably, he signed anti-lynching legislation and effectively quelled the first race riot in Springfield in 1908, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to justice and equality. Recognizing the importance of agriculture and infrastructure, Deneen established the Illinois Department of Agriculture and The Illinois Highway Department, imprinting his legacy on the state's development. Furthermore, he fervently advocated for vocational education, firmly believing in its transformative power for individuals and communities.


    Deneen's reputation as an honest and visionary leader extended beyond Illinois, as he forged close ties with esteemed Presidents such as McKinley, Teddy Roosevelt, Taft, and Coolidge. In recognition of his exceptional leadership and contributions, he served as a U.S. Senator from 1925 to 1931, bringing his expertise to national affairs. His dedication to public service was further exemplified when he became a finalist for the Vice Presidency of the United States in the late 1920s.


    The enduring legacy of Charles H. Deneen as an advocate, governor, and statesman, continues to inspire future generations to stand up for justice, pursue meaningful reforms, and shape a brighter future for their communities and nation.

  • Veteran, Community Leader, and Advocate

    James D. Deneen is an exceptional individual who has dedicated his life to service and community involvement. As a retired Military Policeman and Vietnam Combat Veteran, he has demonstrated unwavering commitment and bravery in defending our nation. After his military service, he continued his contributions as a civil servant at Ft. Knox, making a positive impact on the community.


    With a passion for making a difference, James has actively participated in various organizations and clubs. He served as the President of the Riasok Shrine Club and the Elizabethtown Lions Club, where he displayed exceptional leadership and dedication to their respective missions. Additionally, he is a valued member of the D.A.V. 003 and the American Legion Post 113, continuing to serve his fellow veterans.


    James is a compassionate individual with a deep sense of philanthropy. He has been an avid fundraiser and volunteer for Kosair's Children's Hospital, dedicating his time and efforts to support the well-being of children in need. With over 70 years of community service, James is a true master craftsman in making a positive impact on the lives of those around him.


    In 1962, during the civil rights movement, James played a pivotal role as a military policeman by escorting James Meredith, the first African American student at the University of Mississippi, to class. This act of courage and support helped to end segregation and promote equality.


    James D. Deneen's dedication to service, his unwavering commitment to community, and his impactful contributions make him an exemplary figure. His selflessness and compassion continue to inspire others to follow in his footsteps, creating a better and more inclusive society for all.

  • Community Advocate, Leader, and Philanthropist

    Matt Deneen is a highly regarded individual who has dedicated himself to improving the community and uplifting those around him. With a passion for making a difference, Matt has become a prominent community advocate, leader, and philanthropist.


    Throughout his life, Matt has been actively involved in various initiatives aimed at enhancing the well-being of others. As a community advocate, he has worked tirelessly to address pressing issues and create positive change. Through these positions, he has demonstrated his ability to inspire others and rally support for important causes.


    Matt is known for his unwavering commitment to philanthropy, community service, and leadership.

    As an educator, school administrator, city council member, Heritage Council board member, Airport board member, Greenspace board member, Community Parks advocate, ADA advocate, President of the Elizabethtown Paddlers Association Kayaking and Canoeing Club, and Chairman of the Elizabethtown Trail Town Advisory Board overseeing Kentuckys First Urban Trail Town; Matt's commitment to improving his community and active leadership follows in his family tradition of "service to others." His compassionate nature and dedication to service have made him a valued member of the community and our Commonwealth.


    During State Senator Deneen's first legislative session in 2023, he continued his relentless work ethic by passing three Bills into law unanimously through both the State Senate and the House of Representatives. His common sense legislation for the commonwealth approach has gained tremendous support, benefiting both his District and the Commonwealth. 


    Senate Bill 49, related to workforce shortages in Education, saved thousands of teaching jobs and expanded teacher employment opportunities.


    Senate Bill 119 a Sexual Assualt Bill

    clearly defined the law and put in place a clear path to justice for victims and punishment for their perpetrators. 


    SB 60, a Motorcycle License Bill was passed to assist our active duty service members in obtaining their Kentucky Motorcycle license and safety training more efficiently by removing red tape, regulations, and fees.


    His leadership is evident in his role as Co-chair of the State Senate Veterans, Military Affairs and Public Protection Committee, Co-chair of the Lottery Task Force Interim Committee, Co-Chair of the BR sub-committee on Education Assessment and Accountability Review Subcommittee,  and membership on the Senate Appropriations and Revenue Committee, Judiciary, Agriculture,  Tobacco Settlement Fund committee, member of the SLC committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.  When not in Frankfort, Senator Deneen is an active member of his District, closely working with civic organizations, city and county governments,  local education providers, and small and large business owners. Senator Deneen is also the CEO of Deneen Properties LLC. providing affordable living opportunities to residents.
